Why Soy Candles?

The majority of all candles are made with paraffin wax, a petroleum based by-product of refined gasoline. Many candles also have a zinc core wick that increases the release of black soot. Studies have shown that carcinogens released by paraffin wax candles can be as dangerous as second hand cigarette smoke or gasoline being burned by an automobile and can cause harm to the heart, lungs, circulatory system, and nervous system.

Sanibel Luminaries candles are made with an all-natural soybean base wax enhanced with fragrance and botanical oils, have no added dyes, have cotton core wicks and have the following advantages over paraffin wax candles:

Customer Satisfaction

Sanibel Luminaries- We strive to produce the most fragrant soybean candle anywhere. We proudly offer 100% satisfaction with our product. We will exchange any candle for the same or a different fragrance or for your money back.

Burn Quality:

Because each candle is hand-poured, errors can occur. We strive to put the maximum amount of fragrance in each candle that will still allow it to burn. If too much fragrance is added the candle may tunnel down the center (just as in any candle). Any soybean candle that does not burn to the edges and liquify across the top after 3-4 hours of straight burning should be returned or exchanged.

Fragrance Quality:

We put the maximum fragrance possible in each candle. If after burning your candle for more than one hour, you don't smell your candle, please move it to a smaller room (perhaps bedroom or bathroom) until you can smell it, then move it back to a larger room.

Appearance Quality:

Many factors affect the appearance of the wax in our clear jar. Right from manufacturing, some candles have very even color and some have very uneven color or a frosted look. Direct sunlight or florescent lights can also unevenly discolor the wax.

No Additives:

None of the issues listed above affect burn or fragrance. Imperfections are a natural occurrence in pure soy wax. Chemical are available that would make each candle perfect. However, because we strive to eliminate every possible carcinogen from your air, including chemical stabilizers, additives or dyes, we proudly accept that our candle will have imperfections. We are certain you will appreciate our candles for the qualities we have captured.
